Democrat John Edwards talks a lot about his humble beginnings. He likes to talk about there being two Americas. One that’s rich and one that is not. The above is a aerial photo of John Edward’s home. Guess which America he is in?
His recreation building contains a basketball court, a squash court, two stages, a bedroom, kitchen, bathrooms, swimming pool, a four-story tower, and a room called “John’s Lounge.” Maybe instead of announcing his candidacy for President from the ninth ward in New Orleans, he should have made it from John’s Lounge. That at least would have been honest.
The guy is a fake. He’s a hypocrite. It’s not even as though he actually built his wealth with the sweat of his own brow. It’s not like he invented something innovative or spectacular. He didn’t build anything. He didn’t create anything. He didn’t even amass his wealth the old fashioned way by being born into it. No, he made his millions being a personal injury trial attorney. Two things had to happen for Edwards to make money. A doctor had to make a mistake and a patient had to suffer because of it.
The Edwards empire was built on the misfortune and misery of others.
Now he wants to use the economic misfortune of others to propel his presidential aspirations. Not that this is new. He used this same tactic the last time he tried to be President.
I don’t think some guy with his own personal squash court has any business lecturing anyone that there are two Americas.

I think that anyone who has to take a pay-cut to be President shouldn’t be allowed to be elected.
What’s the big deal ?
He just bought this, knowing he was going into an election cycle.
He could have held off until after any election, “for appearances” but chose not to. It’s common knowledge that he’s a personal injury lawyer, nothing new there. Does he make money off of other people’s suffering ? That’s a point of debate. He’s there to help folks who need it. I guess it depends a lot on whether his cases are true need, or if a lot of them are what I would call “shyster” cases.
I’m no fan of personal injury lawyers, since so many advertise “did you slip and fall ? We’ll sue for you!” I’m pretty disgusted with them.
But when you (yes YOU) get into an accident, and have serious long term injuries, the personal injury guys do server a purpose.
Rather than point a finger at Edwards, point a finger at the profession and demand reform. Cap lawyers fees, maybe 33% for the first million, then 10 % thereafter. That’s still plenty of cash for the lawyer.
But if Edwards played by the rules, pulled himself up and made a good living, don’t bash him for that.
And if you’re a republican, you should thank John for trickle down economics…. buying / building a place like this employed lots of workers for a good long while.
btw… John, it is a little over the top, but hey, nice place !
I’ve changed my mind. Bill won me over. Lawyers are awesome! Yeay!
Holy poop, dude. That’s a serious estate right there.
I don’t understand why anyone in the world thinks they need this amount of property/items. Yikes.
Thanks, Rick.
he is not going to be a very good president. ,my opinion since everbody has their own. Clinton is going to probably win but i dont think she looks to capable of changing immagration problems like they said they would “supposily” change. but who knows hope someone capable wins and does something good for the people.
Admittedly I am not a big fan of John Edwards, but it isn’t because I view him as a Hypocrite. I simply think he has an anger or resentment issue that is reflected in his interactions with others. I continuously read articles about his being a Hypocrite but not one person has written or stated one fact to support this. Just because someone lives in a huge home and chooses a lavish lifestyle doesn’t automatically suggest that the person doesn’t care about the poor in society. John Edwards was the NC Senator; can you really blame him for having a gate surrounding his house or at the end of his driveway for privacy or protection?
Someone please give me a good argument for why this man is a Hypocrite, other than the fact that he is wealthy himself and lives a life of luxury. If I knew for a fact that this man hasn’t donated any of his personal money to assist the needy or poor, I would then refer to him as a total Hypocrite. The size of his home hardly supports anything.
So you think he can really identify with the plight of the poor in 21st century America? He seems to think he can. I don’t think he can even begin to imagine it.
Show me a Politician who hasn’t been a Hypocrite and I’ll show you a President who isn’t just a Puppet for the party. If we can all agree that it’s time to make this country a Democracy instead of a Republic; it seems as though it’s been a decade of blood, sweat and tears.
In my eyes, John Edwards would be the best representative for our country and the lesser of all evils which is how every election in this country turns out anyway.
Wasn’t he a personal injury lawyer before? It’s hard to maintain any credibility when you spent past of your life chasing ambulances.
And an excellent one at that. Very good at fighting battles that no one else could win. We can’t forget that he was also the NC Senator.
“Very good at fighting battles no one else could win?” How can you be sure? If no one else tried the same case, we’d never know- so your statement is totally unverifiable.
Speaking of the lesser of all evils, and if you are a Democrat and willing to vote, would you prefer MLK wannabe or Ellen Degneres in a George Bush mask?
No Sir, it is NOT unverifiable. Look at his house and all else. You don’t acquire those masses of assets by losing battles. Yes, it takes two to battle and someone has to win in the end. It was John Edwards who won the trials in which he was involved, not the opponent.

Example, a 5-year-old girl was disemboweled, but survived, after being caught and suctioned by wading pool’s defective drain. Edwards got a $25 settlement in that case. Swimming pool drain cases were something of a specialty for Edwards.
If that little girl (and others like her) didn’t have her insides sucked out of her by a swimming pool drain, Edwards wouldn’t have all the neat stuff that he has today. Like a squash court. He wouldn’t be able to afford $200 haircuts.
I understand your comments but respectfully disagree here. If John Edwards hadn’t represented that “little girl” what would’ve happened? Certainly someone else would’ve represented her. I personally don’t think John Edwards is a likable person and I agree with another post that he is fake but I also think that people refer to him as a Hypocrite because of his possessions. Doctors, Lawyers and even Utility companies make money on others’ misfortunes. Unfortunately that is the way the World works. People capitalize on other people’s losses everyday. Doesn’t make it right but it happens. I think John Edwards passionately despises the big guy- Corporate America. Yes he is a semi-wealthy guy but apparently he witnessed through his own father and other experiences that blue collar and middle class people are treated unfairly and knocked around by the big guys- the Corporations. It is pretty obvious that John Edwards stepped up to the plate and offered to fight these people and managed to win. He made a fortune with his lawsuits but I think it was because he had/has a deep seated resentment against these sorts of companies taking advantage of people and employees (like the “mill” to which he always refers) and personally enjoys attacking and bringing down the big guys. And if he made lots of money in doing it, so what? I don’t think making money was his goal; I think the money happened to come with his vengeance. I think John Edwards is after Corporate America and intends to use the Presidency as a vehicle to bring them down.
